FLIGHT of the BUMBLE BEE / RIDE of the VALKYRIE are they ';similiar'; ';MUSICALLY SPEAKING';???

my wife and i are disputing the similiarities of the two musical pieces.....She thinks they sound-alike...and I totally disagree...

What i need from you; my composers, musically - trained students, band members, and any classically-trained musicians...are your opinions and answers....NOW i know this is a retarded question (no offense to the mentally handicapped). But your answers will help settle a bet ...I say they're not and she of course say they sound alike....PLEASE HELP!!!!FLIGHT of the BUMBLE BEE / RIDE of the VALKYRIE are they ';similiar'; ';MUSICALLY SPEAKING';???

  1. Personally, I take Flight of the Bumblebee to be a bit of a parody of Ride of the Valkyrie
Ride of the Valkyrie is a strong and powerful piece evoking the mythical beings that take Viking warriors into ValHalla with rich and powerful bass, lingering tones and overwhelming volume while flight of the bumblebee elicits the miniature and sporadic nature of a bumblebee in flight almost in the same way Wagner would have written it himself.
They both contain segments in B-minor, but Valkyrie transitions into F-Major whereas Bumblebee transitions into F-Minor.
    It's a joke of sorts.
It would be possible to play a mashup of the two pieces and it would be hilarious.
