Why the bee put honey hexagonal form?

Hexagons are the most volumetrically efficient shape for a 2-dimensional cellular structure. In other words, if you want to hold a given amount of honey using the MINIMUM amount of wax? You make a hexagon. Why the bee put honey hexagonal form?
The reason it's so efficient is because hexagons interlock with one another to form 0 empty space. The same cannot be said of any shape except triangles and squares. Just as a side note, the hexagonal comb cells are also used to hold larvae as they grow. Queen and drone cells (those that raise young queens and drones, that is) are larger than other cells, and tend to be more circular than hexagonal.
